Horror Addicts Podcast

This podcast explorers all types of horror in the media. I listened to show 014, which is in the shows second season and is all about zombies. Hosted by Emerian Rich, it starts out with horror in the movies. Emerian is knowledgeable and knows what she is talking about. She seems, however, to have problems reading. There are points where she reads other people’s reviews that could use some polish.
One minor problem I also had was the music. While generally I don’t have problem with music in podcast, when you begin to play music that’s a bit off the mainstream, you might put off some of your listeners. Of course, I’m playing this on my ipod, so fast forwarding a couple of minutes look care of the problem.
The website listed five other people including a Ghastly Gamer, named Katie and a Macabre Movies Man named Knightmist, so I expected more of a group effort. The show I listened to was all Emerian.
While a few songs are added and a horror story by Kirk Warrington, other than that, the show was all Emerian, which is a mighty task. It is one of the hardest things to do, I believe, to fill an hour by yourself. While she does a good job, the show does get a little flat in parts.
All in all, if you are a true fan of all things horror, you will probably like this show. If, on the other hand, if you are only into parts of the horror gender, such as films, but not books or games, you may not find this while show entertaining.

I was a late comer to Horror Addicts, half way through season 2, but I have grabbed and listened to all of the back episodes. It does cover the gamet, films (meh), books, games, stories, and all done in Emerian’s enticing style. Tastes certainly vary. I personally love Emerian’s style and voice.
Judge for yourself. Horror Addicts is certainly worth listening to two or three episodes in order to understand the style and tone and decide if it is right for you.
I joined in the fun of Horror Addicts at the end of season one and have watched the show progress and evolve. It is a wild ride for those who are not used to the horror genres and has help me develop and appreciation for an genera I was never involved in before.
Emerian is brave to out it out there like this with distinct and knowledgeable opinions. Not easy to do. I always find the shows cheer me up and make me smile and often laugh out loud.
Can’t wait for season 3.
