What’s happening on the ‘net right now? Amber MacArthur spends every waking moment combing the net for cool sites, viral videos, and funny and moving moments online and she shares them with us every week.
Call me a sexist pig but when I read “What’s happening on the ‘net right now” in the podcast description and it was hosted by a pretty girl named Amber, I figured it was a show on fun webpages and Youtube videos. While is had some of that, it was a lot more. Amber MacArthur with the help of Leo Laporte talk about all the all aspects of the Internet, including a lot of stuff I just didn’t understand.
Maybe I’m just too old.
The show I listened to featured a large segment about something called “The Scrunchies”. This was an award show of things like web apps, start ups and all the stuff I don’t know anything about. Subjects include; Google Reader, Windows Live Mesh, Cooliris, Gog.is, Live Journal layoffs, Purple People, Twitter hackers, Robert Scoble and the value of blogs in a microblogging world and more of this stuff.
I did listen to a second show, # 82, and this was a little better for a guy like me. They talked a bit more about things I understand. One thing I liked is they do talk about interesting website and Youtube video’s.
This podcast is part of the TWiT.tv network, which has all kinds of podcasts. If you are really into the Internet beyond writing blogs, using email and checking out Youtube, you might want to give this site a try! Each show is around an hour long.
